Dear Leaders and Friends,

WHO ARE WE REACHING??

When it comes to church planting, one approach does not fit all communities.  Style of music, the way you launch, and, who you plant with are very organic issues.  What about the country, for example.  Planting in a small outback rural community is vastly different to planting in a city suburb.  If the church planter in a small community has genealogy of less than 100 years they may be still classified as a newcomer.  A new Pastor riding into town on a white horse is likely either to be shot or locked up.

We are currently developing a new model for outback and rural Australia which works with a local Kingdom hearted family.  They don’t need to be Pastors, but will receive coaching and support to commence a house church.

WHAT ABOUT THE CITY?

Bible belt vs Heathen belt

In a city a big launch, with big numbers and big dollars works particularly well.  Many city folk are attracted to something that feels strong from day one.  This type of church plant works particularly well in a place where people “know they don’t go to church” to quote Ps Steve Pike, head of church planting for Assemblies of God in the U.S.A.  “These would be individuals with a prior experience with the church that was generally positive, but for whatever reason have drifted away. They may even love God and consider themselves followers of Christ .  It is not however as effective in reaching people who “don’t know they don’t go to church”.  These are folks who have no prior direct positive or negative experience with the church.  They may even be atheists or individuals who are antagonistic towards the church.  An attractional style of church is less effective with this group who are not looking for a worship experience; in fact they don’t know what they are looking for”.  These people need to get saved! Most of them don’t even know they are sinners yet alone even have an inkling what a church is for.  Our inner cities and unchurched suburbs need a more personally intensive style of evangelism.  Very hands on!

At Equip, we are not following one approach.  We are not just driving down the middle of the road, we are not just off the road 4 wheel drivers, we are all over the road.  We look at the community and help plant accordingly.   If your concept of planting is not working, chances are it is time to reevaluate who you are reaching.

Dear Leaders and Friends,

GOD IS UP TO SOMETHING

Currently I am traveling with Pastors to several States in the US connecting with Kingdom leaders from different denominations. Leaders like Sam Chand, Chris Hodges, Paul and Andie Andrew, Bob Roberts and the list goes on. My conclusion is we are not alone in the stirrings of God to plant Churches. There is a common thread, a voice that beckons us all to obey and extend His Kingdom through the planting of healthy Churches. God is speaking to men and women everywhere to train equip and release leaders to plant Churches that will plant Churches for His glory and not our own. The math is simple. More Churches leads to more souls which lead to a bigger Kingdom.

SON OF THE HOUSE STEPS UP

Pastor Leighton Roberts, Eilidh and their children are about to plant their own Church in Sunbury Victoria. It is not easy to have an executive Pastor move on but when it is to Plant …. how can I argue with that. L8's has been with us for 17years since he was 17. He and Eilidh met in our youth group, got married and now have 3 amazing children. He actually says it’s my fault for talking about risk taking. He is a true son, and Eilidh a true daughter of the house. Karen and I are so proud of them both. They have been so faithful. We will get behind them from Equip and the local church at SW to build a strong church in a rapidly growing area which has a need for a strong Pentecostal Church.

Dear Leaders and Friends,

**Urgent Church Sponsorship Needed**

Please partner with us to plant a church in Australia or overseas.  Sponsorships start at $50 per month for either full support or part time support.  Many churches are being planted, but we are desperately seeking sponsors who will give financial support to assist us. Whatever you give will make such a huge difference as many of these church planters are giving everything to extend the Kingdom of God.  Please contact the equip office for further information on how you can give.

Module 1 Training day is only a few weeks away, and we are certainly looking forward with anticipation as to what the Lord will do through many church planters and their churches in 2012. Below is a basic outline of what we’ll be teaching and training on April 3&4, and if you have the call of God to plant a church you can register to be part of this using the link above.

Why Church Planting

The basis for church planting is found in the Bible. God sent his own Son Jesus Christ as a missionary to earth to die, be resurrected and ascend to heaven, so that a lost world may be reconciled and redeemed. For this to be now completed, God’s people (the church) are commissioned to be missionaries. The whole church is called to go and make disciples of all peoples (Matthew 28:18-20).  We are empowered by His Spirit and motivated by his love to enter and win all people groups by planting healthy, growing churches that multiply into more churches.

Dear Leaders and Friends,

I love Church Planting

I love church planting and I love my life.  That doesn’t mean that 2011 hasn’t been without its challenges.  Since February 2011 Karen and I are personally on our 7th insurance claim.  When you are doing something for God exhilarating events will happen.  This has been an incredibly fruitful year in so many arena’s.  Our church has never been stronger and the mission of Equip is ever expanding.  It feels like we are in the zone of God’s grace.  One preacher has called it “the anointing of ease”. When you do what you are called to, He anoints you because He anoints His will.

October 2011

Dear Leaders and Friends,

Wow, what a ride! When God is moving all you can do is hold on. “Equip Ministries” recently had a meeting in Geelong with a house full of prospective planters ready to plant in Australia and overseas. It was an exciting meet and greet where vision was also shared. There are several new churches that will be commenced in Victoria and overseas …… see below for the latest.

Is there any such things as an “Equip Church”?

NO!!! Equip is not a church or a denomination. We do not plant churches. We are a ministry to help plant churches. We “equip” leaders and churches to plant. No tags/ no titles. It is hard for some to get their head around the fact that this is a Kingdom Ministry. Even my local church, “South West” gives to this ministry in finance, people and resources but draws nothing.

Souls saved in your town are just as important as souls saved in our town. My prayer is that many more Kingdom ministries will continue to rise up in this nation.
